Katy Purmort
Born to a family of riders, Katy had no choice. She fell in love with the horses and the training process. Starting in her youth as a hunter-jumper competitor, in local, regional and national shows. She then competed and trained with a 5* Grand Prix and performance horse barn in Los Angeles, importing top quality horses, and traveling the west coast's show jumping circuit. Soon, Katy was then drawn to the sport of Eventing, managing one of Southern California's most elite Eventing Barns.
Katy became recognized as a top competitor in the Eventing world. Competing in the FEI with her mount Ballingowan Ginger. The pair won many top placings , winning the Galway Downs International Preliminary division, 4th at Twin Rivers 2* Event and 5th in the nation for the USEA's Preliminary Rider of the year. Katy also earned her USDF Bronze medal, along with several 1st place scorings through the 4th level of dressage. Katy now is developing upper level talent to complete in the FEI for the USDF. "Dressage has become a fascination and somewhat of an obsession. The time it takes to develop the kind of talent needed for the Grand Prix has captivated me. I work very closely with top Grand Prix trainers to aid the Eventing, but also solely for my personal GP prospects."
Today, Katy manages her own private farm where she is focusing on bringing up a select number of imported horses for competition, as well as a limited number of talented amateur riders . "Our farm trains young equine talents for the American market and matching them in their ideal households. We also enjoy sharing the training process with our clients." Through a diverse, multi discipline knowledge base, the team brings classic training technique with a modern touch, while always keeping the horses happiness as the number one priority!
